Julie Pasco

Julie Pasco is Professor, Epidemiology of Musculoskeletal and Metabolic Disorders, at Deakin University, located at Barwon Health. She is the Director of the Epi-Centre for Healthy Ageing and Theme Leader for Population Health in the Institute for Mental and Physical Health and Clinical Translation (IMPACT). Professor Pasco is an epidemiologist, with a background in biochemistry and physiology. Her population-based research focuses on understanding the progression of chronic cardiometabolic and musculoskeletal disorders and the nexus between physical and mental health. She founded several population-based studies including the long running Geelong Osteoporosis Study (GOS), the Vitamin D in Pregnancy (VIP) study and the Ageing Chronic Disease and Injury (ACDI) study. An important component of her research is to facilitate knowledge transfer from research into clinical practice and into the community.
