Associate Professor Nathan Pavlos is a Group leader at the School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Western Australia. He received his PhD in 2005 from the University of Western Australia. From 2007-2010 he was a NHMRC CJ Martin Research Fellow at Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen (Jahn Laboratory) where he worked on the regulation of synaptic vesicle trafficking. In 2010 he returned to UWA to Head the Cellular Orthopaedics Laboratory. His current research interests focus on the molecular regulation of membrane traffic and transport in bone cells with a particular emphasis on osteoclasts, giant bone-resorbing polykaryons whose dysfunction and/or over-activation underscore several debilitating musculoskeletal diseases including osteopetrosis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and Paget's disease of bone.
